Copersucar, a company that stands out for its excellence and innovation in the sector, together with its 90 associated companies, spread throughout three Brazilian states, has always shown itself to be fully focused on the results of its members, through almost 50 years of its existence. The company's commitment brings some challenges, however. The greatest of these lies in consolidating sectoral self-administration, seeking short- and long-term harvest planning, without which the stability of the sugar and alcohol markets becomes uncertain.
Defending the opening up of the protected international market, Copersucar has encouraged the creation
of the Global Alliance for Sugar Trade Reform and Liberalisation and has taken part in it from the start, which involves the principal sugar exporting and consuming countries in an organized initiative in the fight to open up global sugar trade.
With each challenge overcome, new and more complex ones appear, to concentrate the efforts of the sector leaders. It is therefore essential to persist in the process of opening up the international sugar market by exhausting all avenues of negotiation, but if necessary going further in the uncompromising defense of the country's legitimate interests. Victory, the expansion and consolidation of the promising international market for fuel alcohol, is urgent.
